This One's a Keeper

I went down to the dock this morning at 7am just to see what I could see. To my surprise, I found seven loons doing some sort of mating dance in the middle of the lake. (At least that's how I interpreted it.) My dad heard all the commotion and was kind enough to bring down my long lens. I was disappointed, though, that even with the lens, most of the loon shots were small blurry specks. That is, until one loon surprised me and popped up RIGHT next to the dock. I was able to snap four pictures before it left, but only one turned out. This is it...straight out of the camera. No editing involved. Yup. This one's a keeper.

Andrew said it looks like it's part zebra with the striped neck.

  2. Beautiful Photo Kim!
There are loons at both lakes we like to visit - but they're shy and we never get too close. This is a great shot!
Hope you're having a wonderful time at the cabin - we're back from our get-away already and back to summer life at home.
